Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Pilates at Kôr Haus?

Pilates is a full-body exercise created by Joseph Pilates to improve strength, flexibility, posture, and body awareness — all with a focus on your core (what we call the “kôr” of the body). It’s low-impact but highly effective, using controlled movements to work your muscles without putting strain on your joints.

At Kör Haus, we teach Pilates with a modern intensity boost. That means you’ll get the proven benefits of classical Pilates, mixed with good music, paired with a little extra variety to keep things fresh and effective. Some may call this Contemporary.

    Our studio features:

    • Reformers – These are sliding carriage machines with springs for adjustable resistance. They’re incredibly versatile, letting us target every muscle group in endless ways.
    • Springboards (like “towers”) – Wall-mounted spring systems that add resistance and stability challenges to your workout. Perfect for upper-body, lower-body, and core exercises.
  • Are you teaching classical or contemporary Pilates?

We like to keep things real—debating styles isn’t really our vibe. 🧘 At Kôr Haus, we blend the foundations of Pilates with modern cues and variety, giving you an experience that’s effective, challenging, and fun.

The best way to see what we’re all about? Come check us out for yourself—feel the difference on the reformer and springboard, and decide what works for your body.

  • What should I wear?

Comfortable, fitted workout clothes that allow you to move freely. Avoid anything too loose that might catch on the springs or straps.

Grip socks are not required, but strongly recommended for safety and hygiene purposes. We have them for sale at the studio if you need a pair.

  • Can I come if I'm pregnant?

Absolutely! Many Pilates classes are appropriate through the first trimester, maybe even longer.

However, some classes will have you in a prone position (on your stomach) which you may need to skip.

We offer Pre/Post Natal classes designed specifically for moms-to-be and new mothers. Another option is 1:1 sessions to customize to your needs.

Before starting any exercise regimen while pregnant, get your doctor's clearance first.

  • What's the class size?

Classes are capped at 8 people, so you'll never feel lost in the crowd. You'll get individualized attention while still enjoying the energy of a group.

  • Do you have an app?

Yes! You can manage your account, book classes, purchase a mmbership, and more!

  • I’m new — where should I start?

If you’ve never done Pilates on the reformer, we highly recommend starting with our Kôr Foundations Private Package — 3 one-on-one sessions designed to teach you the ropes, help you feel comfortable with the equipment, and set you up for success.

Whether you’ve done Pilates before and feel comfortable on a reformer or not, we suggest you take Kôr Foundations as your first group class. Take it as many times as you like — it’s the perfect way to learn our style, cues, and flow. When you’re ready for a faster pace, try Re l Form, an all-levels class that keeps things moving. (It’s not designed for someone brand-new… so maybe skip it for your very first class. 😉)

  • Where can I park?

    1. Street: Free 2-hour parking on Lowell Blvd (check for street cleaning May-Nov)
    2. Alley: 3 dedicated spots behind building, enter from alley only. Signs say KOR HAUS PILATES.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT park in the spots directly behind building, off of 50th. Only park off inthe spots off of the alley.

  • What's the cancellation policy?

Life happens—we totally get it! But since Kôr Haus classes are cozy (just 8 reformers per session), every spot matters.

We have a 12-hour cancellation window. Cancel after that, and your class will be deducted from your package or membership. If you have an unlimited membership, you will be charged a $25 late cancelation fee.

If you no-show without cancelling, you'll be charged the late cancelation fee PLUS a $15 no-show fee will apply. (Think of it as our way of keeping the reformers from feeling ghosted 👻).

The above policies also apply to Private Sessions.

  • How often should I do Pilates?

For optimal strength building and visible results, we recommend 2-3 classes per week. Practicing once a week will still improve your mobility and posture.

Because Pilates is low-impact, you can take classes as frequently as your schedule allows without overtraining.

  • Is Pilates for men, too?

Absolutely! Pilates is for anyone who wants to move better, build strength, improve posture, and increase flexibility.

At Kör Haus, we tailor instruction to each individual, so you’ll get a challenging and effective workout regardless of your experience or fitness level.
